| Background | C8166 is a clone of C63/CRII-4 generated by fusing primary umbilical cord blood cells with an HTLV‑1‑producing cell line derived from a patient with adult T‑cell leukaemia/lymphoma. It carries a defective HTLV‑1 genome. Upon exposure to HIV, these cells fuse and form syncytia. Biosafety level 2 containment is required for handling this cell line. |
