Background DU4475 cell line was established from a locally metastatic cutaneous nodule of an undifferentiated carcinoma in a 62-year-old woman. This nodule developed seven years after she underwent radical mastectomy for a poorly differentiated ductal carcinoma of the breast. Literature reports indicate that the DU4475 cells grow readily in athymic nude mice and are capable of forming tumors. Additionally, these cells have been shown to express components of milk fat globules and are triple-negative (estrogen receptor-negative, progesterone receptor-negative, and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative).
Tumorigenic Yes, in nude mice.
Biosafety Level BSL-1
