Background H9 [derivative of HuT 78] cells are a clonal derivative of HuT 78 cells, express the CD3 and CD4 surface markers. Studies have shown that H9 cells are susceptible to human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) and can be used for the detection, isolation, and propagation of HIV-1, as well as for studies of other human T-cell lymphotropic viruses.
