Instructions 1. Check all containers for leakage or breakage.
2. Remove the frozen cells from the dry ice packaging and immediately transfer them to liquid nitrogen (liquid or vapor phase) for long-term cryopreservation.
3. This cell line is a suspension cell line. Harvest the cell suspension by centrifugation; do not discard the culture medium directly.

Background Jurkat, Clone E6-1 cells are a subclone of the Jurkat-FHCRC cell line, itself a derivative of the Jurkat cell line. The cells were derived from peripheral blood of a 14-year-old male patient and secrete high levels of IL-2 following stimulation with phorbol esters plus either lectins or anti-T3 monoclonal antibodies (both types of inducers are required).
