| Background | MT-4 is an adult T-cell leukaemia cell line derived from a 50-year-old Japanese male presenting with generalized lymphadenopathy and hepatosplenomegaly, established via co-culture of the patient’s peripheral leukocytes with male umbilical cord lymphocytes. The cells harbour HTLV-1 and support HIV propagation. Manipulation of this cell line requires Biosafety Level 3 containment facilities. |
