| Background | NCI-H146 [H146] is a human small cell lung cancer cell line established from pleural fluid collected from a SCLC patient. NCI-H146 [H146] cells overexpress four classic biochemical markers specific to small cell lung carcinoma: neuron-specific enolase, brain-type creatine kinase isoenzyme, L-dopa decarboxylase, and bombesin-like immunoreactivity. Immunocytochemical staining shows positive signals for keratin and vimentin, whereas neurofilament triplet protein expression is absent. At the transcriptional level, NCI-H146 [H146] exhibits relatively abundant c-myc mRNA expression, though no genomic amplification of the c-myc gene is detected in this cell line. |
