Matters Need Attention
1. This product is only used for scientific research or further research, not for diagnosis and treatment.
2. Please thaw the serum at 2-8℃ environment. Thawing at higher temperatures is not recommended, as it may cause the serum to become turbid, increase precipitation, and degrade its quality.
3. Please shake the serum gently from time to time during the thawing process to ensure that the serum composition and temperature are uniform, thus reducing the production of precipitation. Be careful not to create bubbles when shaking.
4. Once thawed, serum should be used as soon as possible. Repeated freezing and thawing should be avoided to maintain its quality.
5. Serum should not be placed at room temperature for extended periods. After use, promptly return it to a 2-8℃ environment.
6. High-temperature thawing, vigorous shaking, repeated freezing and thawing, and prolonged storage can all lead to a decrease in serum quality.
7. This product is sterilized by 0.1μm filtration.
8. To maintain the optimal performance of this product, please avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

FAQs
-
Q:1 Has your serum been tested for BVDV?
AnswerYes, our serum is tested for bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV). This parameter is included in the Certificate of Analysis (COA), and the acceptance criterion is negative.
-
Q:2 Is this serum exosome-depleted?
AnswerNo, this serum is not exosome-depleted. We also offer an exosome-depleted fetal bovine serum, with product code 164222.
-
Q:3 What are the advantages of aliquoted (pre-aliquoted) FBS packaging?
AnswerThe primary advantage of aliquoted fetal bovine serum (FBS) packaging is that it minimizes loss of biological activity and reduces the risk of contamination associated with repeated freeze–thaw cycles and frequent bottle opening. It also facilitates batch traceability, improves handling convenience, and allows more flexible use in routine cell culture workflows.
-
Q:4 What is the role of fetal bovine serum?
AnswerFetal bovine serum (FBS) is the most widely used supplement in cell culture. Its primary functions include providing essential nutrients, promoting cell proliferation, maintaining cell morphology and function, and protecting cells from damage. Specifically, FBS contains a rich array of nutrients, including amino acids, vitamins, lipids, carbohydrates, and trace elements, which may be absent or insufficient in basal media. It also provides various growth factors, such as insulin-like growth factor (IGF), epidermal growth factor (EGF), fibroblast growth factor (FGF), and platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), which stimulate cell growth and proliferation. In addition, serum proteins such as albumin, transferrin, and fetuin play important roles in nutrient transport, binding of metal ions, pH buffering, and maintenance of osmotic balance. FBS also contains hormones (e.g., insulin and hydrocortisone), adhesion factors (e.g., fibronectin and laminin) that facilitate cell attachment, and protease inhibitors that help protect cells from shear stress–induced damage.

Q:5 Does serum product 164210 contain cysteine?
AnswerYes it does, the serum contains a variety of amino acids, including cysteine.
