2. Remove the frozen cells from the dry ice packaging and immediately transfer them to liquid nitrogen (liquid or vapor phase) for long-term cryopreservation.
3. This cell line displays irregular morphology with minor clustering. Proliferation is relatively rapid; timely subculture is recommended.

Background The IM-9 cell line was established in 1967 from the bone marrow of an adult female patient with multiple myeloma. Although initially classified as a myeloma cell line, subsequent studies confirmed it to be an Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-transformed B lymphoblastoid cell line.
